The Leo Manifesto
The Age of AI is a new renaissance era for humanity. These tools enable the average human to create more value—personal, artistic, technical, academic, and economic—than any generation of humans in history.
While the industry's focus is always on ever-more intelligent models, the ones we have today are already capable of delivering a decade's worth of innovation. They enable each of us to create more than we could have imagined just a few years ago.
The primary hurdle to unlocking these gains, however, is the interface. Ever since LLMs became widely available, they have been locked inside chat bubbles. They know only what we write into the bubble or what we have chatted about recently. We have access to unprecedented intelligence, but it is only available via text message.
While the paradigm of "AI as iMessage" was an effective starting point, it now seems far more obvious to shift that paradigm toward "AI as Notes." For thousands of years, humans have used notebooks to record ideas, write diaries, make sketches, create to-do lists, clip articles, and much more. This is the very context that LLMs need to be our most effective assistants.

The notebooks of Leonardo da Vinci have always been my greatest source of inspiration. Leonardo was a one-in-a-billion human with rare talent and intellect at a rare moment in history. But what made Leonardo so uniquely gifted was his curiosity—the childlike wonder that always led to one more question.
As AI begins to give us all the ability to become Leonardo—to draw, design, engineer, think, and form connections across fields—it also enables us to become more curious. It seems universally true that the more knowledge we can access, the more curious we become. Curiosity, I believe, leads to a life that is not only more productive, but also richer and more beautiful.
Tools have always amplified what humans are capable of becoming. AI may be one of the most transformative tools in our history. Leo’s mission is to connect these ever-expanding tools with our own personal knowledge so we can learn, create, and discover more than ever before.
